SmartInterviews.AI ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-assisted interview platform used by employers ("Interviewers") to evaluate job candidates ("you").
This Candidate Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your data when you participate in an interview conducted through SmartInterviews.AI.
1. Information We Collect About You
We collect the following types of information during your interview experience:
A. Identification Information
- Your name (if provided)
- Email address (for receiving interview links)
- Candidate ID (system-generated UUID)
We do not collect unnecessary demographic information unless provided by your employer.
B. Audio/Video Data
When you begin the interview, we may record:
- Video from your camera
- Audio from your microphone
- Screenshare (only if you initiate it)
These recordings may contain biometric identifiers such as your face, voice, and gestures.
C. Proctoring & Interview Monitoring
To ensure interview integrity and prevent cheating, we implement the following anti-cheating measures:
- Fullscreen Enforcement: You will be required to stay in fullscreen mode during the interview
- Tab Switch Detection: We monitor when you switch browser tabs or windows
- Window Focus Detection: We detect when you lose window focus (e.g., Alt+Tab, taskbar clicks)
- Violation Logging: All detected violations are logged with timestamps and stored in our database
- 3-Strike Warning System: You will receive warnings for violations. After 3 violations, the interview will be automatically terminated
- Employer Notification: Your employer will be notified of any proctoring violations and interview terminations
Important Proctoring Policies:
During the interview:
- Do not exit fullscreen mode
- Do not switch to other tabs, windows, or applications
- Do not use Alt+Tab, taskbar, or other window switching methods
- Violations will be recorded and shared with your employer
- 3 violations will result in immediate interview termination
D. Interview Content
- Your spoken or written answers
- AI-generated transcripts
- AI-generated summaries, scores, and behavioral insights
- Question/answer history and timestamps
E. Device & Technical Data
- IP address
- Browser and device type
- Network quality
- Usage logs
- Cookies (for session management)
2. Why We Collect Your Data
We collect and process your data to:
- Conduct and record your interview
- Generate AI-based evaluations and insights
- Provide interview playback to authorized hiring teams
- Improve the quality and fairness of interviews
- Detect suspicious activity or misuse
- Communicate with you about the interview
Important:
We do not use your audio/video for training AI models without additional, explicit consent.
3. Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
Depending on your location, we rely on:

7. Your Rights as a Candidate
You have the right to:

- ✔ Request Human Review — If your interview involved AI scoring.

8. Children
Our platform is intended only for individuals 18 years or older. We do not knowingly allow minors to use the service.
